How to Turn A Group of People Into A Great Team

Leaders, owners and managers have been sharing things with me recently like: “My team is fragmented.” “They’re good workers, but they’re not an aligned team.” “How do I get my team to genuinely care?” “I’m experiencing divisiveness between the front end and back end.”
Whether it’s retail and service, different departments, or simply people pulling in different directions, a group of good people doesn’t automatically become a great team.
The Desired Outcome.
The desired outcome is to shift from division to creating a team. Sounds easy in theory, but it can be super challenging in practice.
The Solution.
One of the most impactful and powerful ways to unify a team is to align them around a bigger purpose and around what I call a BIG Why. It's not uncommon for businesses to have a mission or vision statement.
Many don’t have an effective one.
And most don’t know how to create one that genuinely connects and resonates with their team and impacts day-to-day attitudes, behaviors and performance. When people understand why what they do matters, it can change the way they see their work, their team, and their contribution.
A Fantastic Resource.
Here’s a great short video clip on finding your BIG Why.
Simon Sinek walks an individual through finding their why during a live interview. I think you’ll find it fascinating and thought-provoking.

The conversations you have as a leader matter. Here's to you transforming yourself as a leader and becoming the leader people follow, so you transform your culture and build a team that genuinely cares and takes ownership.

P.S. Please post and tell me: What are you struggling with when it comes to aligning your team? While I may not get to every response, I do read every response I get. What you have to share matters to me.
